Joanna Costello, M.D., is an accomplished musculoskeletal radiologist who obtained her bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University. She attended medical school at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her radiology residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Costello then completed a musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Prior to joining Radsource, Dr. Costello served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis and, most recently, as an Assistant Professor of Radiology in the musculoskeletal division of the University of Pittsburgh. She has served as a consultant for major league baseball, football and hockey teams, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Cardinals.

Dr. Costello has received numerous honors, including a Certificate of Merit from the RSNA and a first place scientific presentation at the 18th annual OREF/ORS Resident Research Symposium.  She was a Rhodes Scholar Elect and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She has contributed to the radiology literature with over 80 peer-reviewed scientific articles, abstracts and presentations at national radiology conferences.

When not practicing radiology, Dr. Costello enjoys relaxing with family and friends. Some of her interests include hiking, cycling, traveling, music, pups, and artistic hobbies such as decorating, drawing and photography.
