‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the PACS, Not an image was loading—not even a STAT. The worklists were hung by the monitors with care, In hopes that IT soon would be there.
If you work in radiology, you know the holiday season comes with its own set of challenges—overflowing worklists, after-hours calls, and the occasional mystery object lodged in holiday revelers. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun along the way.
So, in the spirit of the season, here’s a radiologist’s Christmas wish list:
1. A PACS That Works Like Magic All we want for Christmas is instant image loading, zero downtime, and a system that never needs troubleshooting at 2 a.m. Is that too much to ask?
2. Fewer “Festive” Foreign Bodies Every year, holiday X-rays reveal a new collection of objects that definitely don’t belong inside the human body. From light bulbs to candy canes—yes, really—we’d love a little less creativity this year.
3. AI That Actually Helps A system that flags real pathology instead of circling random artifacts? Now that would be a Christmas miracle.
4. Radiologists on the Nice List We know Santa’s busy, but can we get a little appreciation for all the behind-the-scenes diagnosing we do? Maybe a shoutout from the North Pole’s radiology department?
5. Coffee. Lots of Coffee. Because reading overnight studies in a post-holiday food coma requires serious caffeine reinforcement.
