J. Derek Stensby, M.D. is a highly skilled musculoskeletal radiologist with extensive clinical experience. Dr. Stensby most recently has served as an Associate Professor of Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of Missouri, where he was the Residency Program Director and Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship Director. Prior to his time in Missouri, he was an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the renowned Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Dr. Stensby completed both his undergraduate and medical degrees at Emory University. He performed his radiology residency at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Dr. Stensby has made significant contributions to the field of radiology, with numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, scientific and educational exhibits, and scientific presentations at national radiology meetings. He has demonstrated leadership in the field by serving on national radiology society committees and as a reviewer for several national and international radiology journals. In 2019 and 2021, Dr. Stensby was awarded the University of Missouri Radiology Residency Teacher of the Year Award.
When not practicing radiology, Dr. Stensby enjoys spending time with his wife, playing and watching sports with their 3 children, fishing, reading, and the great outdoors.
