James W. Sherwood, M.D., is a highly experienced radiologist with a longstanding career in clinical practice, physician leadership, and musculoskeletal imaging. Prior to joining Radsource, Dr. Sherwood spent many years with Crouse Radiology Associates in Syracuse, New York, where he served in multiple leadership roles, including Managing Partner and member of the practice’s management committee. His career also includes clinical appointments with several regional hospitals throughout upstate New York and Massachusetts.

Dr. Sherwood earned his medical degree from the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse. He completed a pathology internship followed by diagnostic radiology residency at Albany Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He received his undergraduate degree in biology, graduating cum laude, from Dartmouth College.

Dr. Sherwood’s clinical expertise includes musculoskeletal and spine imaging, with extensive experience in MRI interpretation, arthrography, and image-guided injections. He served for many years as the lead radiologist for Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists and was closely involved in imaging services for Syracuse University Athletics, acting as primary MRI reader for university athletes for nearly a decade.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sherwood has held hospital leadership positions as Chairman of Radiology at multiple institutions and remains committed to collaborative, high-quality patient care.

Outside of work, Dr. Sherwood enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, hiking, canoeing, and skiing in the Adirondack mountains.
