John F. Carroll obtained his bachelor’s degree from Temple University, where he received a full academic scholarship as well as scholarship awards from the Anna Vincent Society and the Philadelphia Daily News. He remained at Temple for his Medical School training, and then completed an Internal Medicine internship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Carroll also performed his Diagnostic Radiology training at Cleveland Clinic, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the esteemed Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, at the Walter Reed Medical Center.
Following his training, Dr. Carroll accepted a position as Director of Musculoskeletal Radiology at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, a position he held for three years. During this time, he developed a large following among referring physicians who demanded his expertise, including the team physicians for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association, the Washington Capitols of the National Hockey League and the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball. Dr. Carroll is highly respected as an educator, having contributed numerous articles, exhibits, and presentations to the field of musculoskeletal imaging.
