Gary Howell, M.D. is a highly experienced musculoskeletal radiologist and interpreter of MRI. Dr. Howell completed a radiology residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he served as Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Howell received additional training in musculoskeletal MRI at the San Francisco Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center, under the direction of Dr. Philip Tirman. Prior to his radiology residency, Dr. Howell completed a general surgery internship at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in Seattle, Washington. He has an M.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and received his B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Before joining Radsource, Dr. Howell served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of California-Davis Medical Center. As a Major in the Air Force, Dr. Howell served as Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging and Chief of Emergency Imaging at Travis Air Force Base, where he was recognized as an outstanding lecturer and teacher. Dr. Howell has served in additional leadership positions as Chair of Diagnostic Imaging and Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging at The Oregon Clinic/Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, and most recently, as President and Chair of Diagnostic Imaging and Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging for Radiology Specialists of the Northwest/Providence Portland Medical Center. Dr. Howell is well recognized as an expert in Musculoskeletal Imaging and as a trusted consultant to multiple physician practices throughout Oregon.

Dr. Howell is married with three children. He enjoys outdoor activities in the beautiful Northwest, including hiking and kayaking.
